Morningstar's Take SAB

SABMiller's vast global scale and strong brands are key contributors to the firm's wide economic moat. Although the company lost its number-one spot as the world's largest brewer in 2008 when Anheuser-Busch merged with InBev, SABMiller will continue to operate as the second biggest after it completes its acquisition of Foster's during fiscal 2012. We note that SABMiller and AB InBev only have meaningful geographic overlap in the United States and China, so the two titans typically don't have to slug it out in every country in which they respectively operate.
