Aviva has been struggling to achieve growth in the post-financial crisis era. The insurance group tapped former AIA executive Mark Wilson as CEO, who has carried out the board's mandate to streamline the organization, preserve cash flows, and strengthen the company's capital position. Wilson's turnaround plan has shown some early success. The company announced the sale of its U.S business, and with that, the insurance group's capital surplus has almost doubled.
